SUMMARY
An intimate pair of Earthlike twins in the heart of a cluster of over 200 Earthlike worlds. An intimate pair of Earthlike twins in the heart of a cluster of over 200 Earthlike worlds.
DESCRIPTION

For a few months in the summer of 3309, The Children of Raxxla sponsored an expedition to find potential new worlds near the centre of the Galaxy, to help safeguard humanity in the face of threats, now and in the unforeseen future. The Children of the Core expedition searched in all the regions close to the centre, and were particularly successful in finding a cluster of over 200 Earthlike worlds in the Juenae sector. There were many contributors to the search, but Commander Kit Ausland, in particular, examined almost 10,000 systems in the Juenae EH-C "boxel", establishing the foundation of the enclave that was named Outland by the members of the expedition.

At the heart of this cluster lies the system of Little Centralia, home to twin Earthlike worlds only 0.62 light seconds apart, and only 3.3 Ly from Centralia, chosen as the homeworld of Outland. Here, the fleet carrier Crioch Leanabachd has taken station as a permanent outpost, affiliated to the Azura Initiativeto provide the nucleus of future settlement.

Beyond bodies A 6 and A 7, the twin ELWs, and a terraformable Water World (A 8) there is little else of interest in the system - no biosigns or active volcanism, and landable bodies found only around the secondary star.

But at only 307Ly from the centre of the Galaxy, and the super-massive Black Hole there (very dimly visible from body AB 1 in the image below), the star density means that there is an inexhaustible vein of new worlds yet to be found, even within a single hyperspace jump.
